This page contains rules for our Facebook group.
Use Common Sense Courtesy
We expect all group members to use common-sense courtesy. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Be careful when wording your posts to be sure they won't be misunderstood by others.
Don't Call People Trolls or Shills
If you want to engage someone who is posting offensive information or disinformation, please don't call them names. Instead, respond intelligently.
If you suspect we have a troll or shill, please do not call them a shill or troll. Just report them and let the moderators take care of it.
No Bullying
Posts harassing others are not allowed. If a member has harassed you, Facebook provides an effective and easy-to-use mechanism for blocking people.
- Blocked accounts cannot see your posts.
- You cannot see the posts of blocked accounts.
- Blocked accounts cannot message you.
To block a person:
- Go to their Facebook page.
- Click the "..." button at the top-right of their page.
- Select "Block".
You can unblock a person at any time. Facebook requires a waiting period before you can block them again.
No Hatred
Our groups are committed to educating people and bringing people together, therefore, posts promoting hatred based on race or religion are not allowed.
No Fake News
It is an unfortunate fact of life that we live in a world saturated with false science, fake news, and large corporations and governments which promote false information daily. Detecting fake news can be difficult and time-consuming. For this reason, we must all work together to expose it.
As a member, if you see fake news, consider commenting on the post and provide the information necessary to demonstrate that the post/article is "fake". This is critical as it helps other members grow in their knowledge of what is real and what is fake.
If you don't comment, you can report the post to the moderators so it can be analyzed, stopped, or removed. Moderators will sometimes allow fake news to remain after posting a closing comment exposing the news as fake. Again, doing this helps educate others.
No Profanity
Many people are offended by foul language while others aren't. As a token of respect towards those with sensitive ears (and eyes), please refrain from using foul language.
If you are serious about helping people, then please keep language PG-rated. This will ensure we reach the maximum number of people possible.
No Gore
Do not post gory or profane content in our group. When you make profane or gory posts, people are less apt to participate in our group.
No Nudity or Overt Sexuality
Quite simply, our group is open to people of all ages so we don't allow nudity.
If you want to reach the general public, then please respect the sensitivities of others.
No Calls for Violence
Our group promotes peaceful resolutions to issues through education, activism, and political pressure. Calls for violence may result in immediate bans without warning.
No Links To Debunking Pages
When you link to pages that spread disinformation, you are helping to spread that disinformation. Posts that link to known disinformation pages or videos will likely be removed.
If you want to rebut disinformation, you are welcome to do that without linking to their pages.
If you want to refer to popular debunking websites, we recommend using shortened forms of the website names like "meta***" or "contrail***". This will allow people to know what you are referring to without providing links to disinfomation.
No Gloating or Provoking
Posts purely for the purpose of gloating or emotionally provoking others are not helpful for our cause. Such posts only cause division.
No Blocking Admins
Please do not block administrators or moderators. This hinders our ability to maintain the group. Users who continue to block administrators or moderators may be banned.
